Happy Memory CHALLENGE! Challenge 23: A Beginning

    Illustration of my living room

I remember sitting on my sofa with my laptop, doodling around with Adobe Illustrator. I started illustrating the room in front of me. Then I started thinking about how different it looks at Christmas, and then I got the idea of an interactive "advent calendar." To add Christmas decorations, you just had to click on whatever is new each day (starting with the candle). Twelve years later I'm still making these advent calenders and sending them to everyone who used to get my paper cards. Making these advent calendars has become a rather big part of my life.

You can click on the calendar icons below to visit old ones, or get brief descriptions of each here.

Perhaps the biggest beginning for me:
the days in the hospital after Jane was born were pure joy.
(That's me, my very first beginning, on the left.)
