Happy Memory CHALLENGE! Challenge 1: Mother

What is the first Happy Memory of your mother that occurs to you? Here's what I thought of first.

Woman cooking in red and white kitchenOne day when I was a girl (but old enough to be helpful at times), Mother and I baked some strawberry shortcake for the family dinner. She said it would be OK to eat a small serving, to make sure it was good. Then we ate another small serving. Then we ate another, and in the end we ate the entire dessert! This was not typical, that’s why it was such a strong memory. There we were, in our 1950's red and white kitchen, eating the entire family dessert.

Mischievous Mother!

I can't resist adding some extra memories...

Beautiful woman taking a nap I also remember a day when for some reason Mother and I were taking a nap in the same bed and we snuggled up, back to back. We weren’t a terribly snuggly family so this warmth felt really good.

(Mother was pregnant with me when this photo was taken. It hangs where I can see it from my bed.)

And an ongoing memory of Mother: books and reading were a huge part of life with her. Mother often took us to the Linden Branch of the Columbus Public Library.
