This candle puts out the flame! Homemade Candles: Quite attractive but... Never leave a candle unattended!

The paper on these crayons burn with much smoke!

One year my parents made candles by filling milk cartons with crushed ice then pouring in melted paraffin. The candles looked cool, but you couldn't burn them because the flame kept hitting trapped water and going out.

Hedda comes every year to bake cookies or make something Christmassy. One year we made candles. She made a very colorful candle by adding crayons. However, she left on their papers, and when the candle was lit (at one of the lovely Hedda and Gary Christmas parties), the crayon papers burned rather spectacularly.

The prettiest candle I ever made was a blue ball coated in frothy, glittery white. I kept it for years. But one morning last year I noticed an odd blue formation on the floor... it took me a moment to figure out that I had left the pretty candle burning the evening before.
